Nature, a Porch Swing, a Sunrise, and a Cup of Coffee

"a lil deep thought is always good for the soul"
Remember how I said 6 am was early, well 530 am on a day off is even earlier. I got peanut and mt. man out the door by 615 today, and to my surprise could not fall back asleep.
Instead of watching the morning news, I decided to take advantage of the warm humid morning we were having.
I didn't go fishing, even though I should have...But instead just sat on the front porch watching the sun come up with my cup of coffee.
My thoughts ranged from how the stimulus package could be better prepared, to wondering what other people were doing at this time in the morning. As I drifted through my thoughts and tried to solve all the worlds problems along with my own, I realized that I was putting life into perspective. I was finding what I believed in, I was shifting through the b.s. and deciding what really mattered.
This is what matters...
-If we only complain and never become proactive on issues nothing will change, and really we have no justice to complain if we are unwilling to make a difference
-Education matters, no matter how old we are we never stop learning from our surroundings and others.
-Money is very evil, when ever this system was formed, there were key points that were not thought out, like inflation.
-No matter how much mt.man and I disagree, we love each other. If we can work through this, we can make it work every other time. We just have to get past right now....agh, sometimes boys are stubborn. (no offense guys)
-I realized that if we all just take a few minutes to see how nature interacts around us, then our lives will seem less unfortunate. We might even take the time to see the beauty in the way the system works, and find a lil out about ourselves.
With that in mind, what things do you think about when you are sitting on your porch watching the sunrise?

Looking out to a beautiful view in the morning is a great place to think! I agree with you on many points - especially education (no matter the source) and nature.
When I was on my deck at the cabin last Friday morning, here's what I was thinking about:

*Getting into survival mode (strategizing, planning, etc.)during this rough economy.

*Wondering who else cares about our lakes, trees, animals, environment and what else can I do.

*Will my Loons successfully raise their babies this summer? :-)

*Will my stepson learn to ride a two wheeler this year. Seriously. He's 10!

P.S. I should know tomorrow if we are coming up this weekend. We are usually up every weekend - especially when the weather gets warmer!

SM: When we sit and ponder life we sometimes take the time to consider what it is all about. You had some neat discoveries in your sit on the porch. What abeautiful view.

I was intrigued by the title to this post - these are some of the things I also love. I see from your profile that you are a very young woman. I'll soon be 65 - I'm glad to know that the "younger generation" has such deep thoughts. My ideas about what matters are similar to yours: having opportunities to serve, continuing to learn, seeking solace and wisdom in Nature, plus nurturing the love of family and friends. Thanks for a lovely post.

Shellmo-I knew you would like this one...glad you shared. O' and there are actually a few meetings up north this summer that give the public a chance to give ideas on saving/protecting the tipp o the mitt! I'll keep you posted.
FG-Thank you for being so encouraging...and if you ever find out what is all about could you give me a hint...lol :)
Barb-Loved your comment! I feel the same way about my generation, sometimes we miss the chance to think deeply. Too many distrations these days, not enough solice. I figure I could lead by example...what do you think? might work. :)
Have a great day everyone! and thanks for stopping by! :)
